Se p 19 98 Hadronization of massive quark matter

We present a fast hadronization model for the constituent quark plasma (cqp) produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions at SPS. The model is based on rate equations and on an equation of state inspired by the string phenomenology. This e.o.s. has a confining character. We display the time evolution of the relevant physical quantities during the hadronization process and the final hadron mult...

Asymmetric Quark/Antiquark Hadronization

We point out that the fragmentation of a strange quark into nucleons versus antinucleons is not necessarily identical Dp/s(z,Q ) 6= Dp/s(z,Q ), even though the perturbative contributions from gluon splitting and evolution are p ↔ p symmetric. The observation of such asymmetries in the hadronization of strange and other heavy quarks can provide insight into the nonperturbative mechanisms underly...

Lennard-Jones quark matter and massive quark stars

Quark clustering could occur in cold quark matter because of the strong coupling between quarks at realistic baryon densities of compact stars. Although one may still not be able to calculate this conjectured matter from first principles, the inter-cluster interaction might be analogized to the interaction between inert molecules. Cold quark matter would then crystallize in a solid state if the...

Hadronization in Nuclear Matter

Nuclei are unique analyzers of the space-time development of jets at early stage. We argue that the gluon bremsstrahlung, rather than the color string, is the main mechanism of hadronization of highly virtual quarks produced in a hard interaction. It results in an energyand time-independent density of energy loss, like a color string, but steeply dependent on the quark virtuality. Effects of fo...

Hadronization of Dense Partonic Matter

The parton recombination model has turned out to be a valuable tool to describe hadronization in high energy heavy ion collisions. I review the model and revisit recent progress in our understanding of hadron correlations. I also discuss higher Fock states in the hadrons, possible violations of the elliptic flow scaling and recombination effects in more dilute systems.
